Holy People: A Liturgical Ecclesiology

– by Gordon W. Lathrop

In the early 90’s when I was first called to Melrose Carmel Presbyterian Church, I took a few courses at the Lutheran Seminary in Philadelphia. One of the courses was taught by Gordon Lathrop. His revere for liturgy and the place it has in bringing together community before God became central to my understanding of how we step into the “holy other” that is present in corporate worship. This book is a shaping of the kind of community he described in his lectures as I sat in his classroom.
