Canoeing the Mountains: Christian Leadership in Uncharted Territory
– by Tod Bolsinger
What happened when Lewis and Clark realized there was no waterway to the west? When they encountered the Rocky Mountains and the river dried up, did they turn back? No. They shed themselves of their canoes and innovated. They kept going. Bolsinger’s view is that we in the church are the new Lewis and Clark with the conviction that we not turn back but move forward and canoe the mountains.
This book can serve as a primer for adaptive leadership for the church.
I found this book significant enough that I used it as the frame for the 2018 Pastors Convocation for the Presbytery of Tropical Florida.
